Lately, have you looked up and asked God “What are you doing because it seems like it’s always something? Well! I have too.
Storms are just a part of life and some of them are just difficult to go through. However, when you surrender your will to God’s will. You’ll understand the significance of each storm. Each storm has been designed to potentially make you greater! But, if you don’t understand the significance of your storms. You will find yourself frustrated, angry, and just waiting for each one to be over. I charge you to seek God in prayer to ask Him what is the purpose of each storm so you can learn your lesson. Because, each lesson unlearned, is repeated. Keep in mind, every storm is not because you have done something wrong. However, each storm is repeated when we don’t trust God.
Life is just difficult and we will face many trials and tribulations. Some of those trials we will overcome. And, some of those trials will require a little more work on our part. In other words, you’re gonna need more than an umbrella this time.
Jesus tells his disciples a parable about “Building Your House on the Rock” Matthew 7:24-27 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
Are you equipped to withstand the storms? The storms you’re facing in life will determine how you have built your house. Again, you’re gonna need more than an umbrella this time to get through it.
Problems in life are inevitable. The assurance comes when we handle our problems through the word of the living God. God doesn’t just desire to be with us during our storms. God wants us to pursue Him, to surrender to Him, and to offer praise to His holy name. God allows us to face impossible situations for the sole purpose of knowing every battle were facing. It belongs to Him.
When I gave my life to Jesus Christ, I thought all my problems were over. I looked at other Christians in my church and it appeared none of them were going through anything. I went to one of the aged mothers of our church and asked. “Why am I the only one always going through something?” She said, “You’re not. We just don’t wear our problems in public. Baby, we take everything to God in prayer.”
Her response changed my life. I learned not to wear my problems in public.
Today, I literally take everything to God in prayer. It was the best decision I’ve ever made. I take my trials and tribulations to God. I know longer ask God to deliver me from that situation; I ask God what does He want me to learn during my seasons of storms or trouble.
If you’re going through storm after storm, you should know by now. God is personally interested in whatever you’re facing. He wants to get involved to help you endure until the end. This time you’re going to need more than an umbrella.
I’m reminded of King Jehoshaphat 2 Chronicles 20:1-25. He was a godly king that followed the commandments of the Lord and did right in the sight of God.
Jehoshaphat was facing an impossible situation. There were armies much greater than Israel coming against them. More importantly, Jehoshaphat knew God. He “turned his attention to the Lord and prayed.”
In 2 Chronicles 19:3: Jehosphahat didn’t just pray and seek God during tough times, but he prepared his heart to do so all the time. So every time he prayed, he knew God heard his prayers.
King Jehoshaphat prayed when problems were too much for him to handle. He didn’t desire man’s wisdom, but God’s wisdom.
I encourage you to take those same steps to seek God in every situation you are facing. God is interested in your problem. When you trust Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, He gets involved with your problems. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been going through it or how long you’ve been dealing with it.
In closing, take your position with God because He is your Heavenly Father. He’s willing to do something about the situation you’re facing. Let Him purify your life so you can seek Him with your whole heart.
